Pedagogy is at the heart of Edouard Hue’s universe, a pillar that he naturally integrated into the Beaver Dam Company. Based on the essence of his artistic vision, the teaching offered by the company emphasizes the exploration of body qualities with paradoxical sensations, the development of fine bodily technicality, and the constant pursuit of creativity and inventiveness.

With (pre)professional dancers, Edouard Hue likes to refine the precision of movement, develop body awareness, and push physical limits. For over ten years, he has been designing and exploring his own body qualities, such as Stars in the Sky or Bubble Work. These specific bodily states, often contrasting, immerse dancers in demanding sensory universes, leading them to take on technical and expressive challenges.

Hue’s classes also emphasize the mastery and meticulous articulation of gesture — a central notion in his choreographic work. Improvisation is used as a technical tool to stimulate agility, precision, and freedom of the body. He pays particular attention to the power of the legs, placement, and refinement of the extremities, in order to develop a versatile physicality capable of adapting to a wide variety of choreographic writings.

Accompanied by the company’s performers, Hue also travels throughout Europe to transmit his repertoire within higher education institutions, conservatories, and private training programs. The pieces are adapted according to the size of the groups to offer tailored pedagogical support. The approach is caring but demanding, with the aim of best supporting future dance professionals.

Also invested in amateurs of all ages, Edouard Hue instills a simple momentum: sharing the pleasure of dancing and exploring the body in motion. Hue develops tools accessible to all, allowing everyone to move at their own pace, respecting their abilities. The workshops rely on evocative images and simple gestures, freely unfolding in space, and cultivate self-awareness as much as the pleasure of the collective.
